Junior High Students to Present Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing

Much Ado About Nothing

On March 15 and 16, 2019, our Vanguard 7th and 8th graders will stage a production of Much Ado about Nothing, one of William Shakespeare's most popular and entertaining comedies.   As part of our Junior High English curriculum, all 7th and 8th grade students have read this play, and now have a chance to show their mastery of the work by performing the play on stage.

Much Ado about Nothing is a favorite of playgoers for its accessible language, appealing characters, and witty dialogue.   The story contrasts two relationships.  Beatrice and Benedick are witty rivals who claim to hate each other. Their friends Claudio and Hero, young and naïve, fall in love with each other and conspire to make Beatrice and Benedick fall in love as well.  A jealous half-brother plots to destroy Claudio and Hero's love, and almost succeeds but for the interference of a pair of bumbling police officers.  The hilarious interactions and trickery that ensue will keep any audience entertained.

Come and be a part of this lively theater experience!  You will be genuinely impressed at the acting ability and stagecraft of our Junior High students.  Performances begin at 7:00 P.M. each evening in the Cafetorium, with doors opening at 6:30 P.M.  Tickets ($3.00 for students, $6.00 for adults) are available online.
