Welcome to the home of the "Coursers Stampede!!" Beginning with its inaugural races in September 2011, the "Coursers Stampede," now an annual event held each Fall, aims to bring our community together by promoting fitness AND fun all while raising funds for the The Vanguard School and CMCA Cross Country and Track programs.
The day's activities consist of a 5K run/walk at 8:00 AM (for adults and students in grades 9-12), a 800m fun run/walk at 9:00 AM (for students in grades K-4), and a 2K run/walk at 9:30 AM (for students in grades 5-8). Race-day registration begins at 7:30 AM. The cost for each participant is $15.00. Fountain Creek Regional Park in Fountain, Colorado serves as the venue for the races, home to the annual Class 2A and 3A Region 2 Cross Country Championships. Participants in the 5K run/walk can actually navigate the same course as our 2011 Girls' and Boy's Cross Country regional championship teams!! Medals are awarded to each race's top three male and female finishers during a ceremony at 10:00 AM. A hearty pancake breakfast, provided by members of the local U.S. Army Reserve, caps off the morning's activities, and is included with event registration. Non-participants may also take part in the pancake breakfast for a modest $5.00 donation. A t-shirt is also offered for those who register prior to race day (not guaranteed for race-day registrants). Logistics for the "Stampede" are coordinated and manned by dedicated Vanguard and CMCA Cross Country and Track team members, staff, parents and numerous volunteers.
