Board Biographies

Bryan Campbell was appointed by the board in 2011 to serve as the acting treasurer and was elected to the board in 2012.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy with a BS in Human Factors Engineering and an MA in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University.  He has been employed by Exelis Inc. for the past fifteen years working in Finance, Contracting, and Procurement.  Bryan has three children attending The Vanguard School.  Since Bryan’s appointment, he has worked on improving the school’s source selection process and on improving the transparency of the school’s budget and expenditures.  Bryan is committed to expanding the opportunities afforded to the students and improving the campuses’ infrastructure to support anticipated growth.  Bryan Campbell’s board seat is up for election in May 2019.
Mr. Dan Geoffrey - Board President

Dan was elected to the board in 2012, has been involved with the Vanguard community since 2010, and has a son enrolled in The Vanguard School.  Dan has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management, and he manages the operations for Allegion Corporation in Colorado Springs.  He is actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and volunteers in church and community activities.  Dan is committed to the school’s tradition of academic excellence, the emphasis on integrity and character of the students and staff, and helping the school become the top-performing school in Colorado.  Dan Geoffroy’s board seat is up for election in May 2019.

Matt was appointed to the board in 2014.  He has been a Vanguard parent since 2011 when both of his children began attending.  Desirous of becoming more active in the future of The Vanguard School, he started participating in the public board meetings held each month and strongly believes that this active participation by our parents is a unique and effective way to create positive change.  Matt attended Marshall University and has been in the mortgage, finance, and investment business for over fifteen years.  Matt firmly believes in the time-proven effectiveness of the classical education model and that coupling this base of knowledge with a well-developed character is the foundation for creating responsible citizens who can make a lasting impression on our society.  Matt Hughes' board seat is up for election in May 2018.

Tricia Jesse was elected to the board in 2013.  Tricia has a BA in Organizational Communications and has been a Vanguard parent since 2000.  In 2006 when her youngest was in first grade, she began substitute teaching. After much experience with substitute teaching, Tricia accepted an instructional aide position in grades 5 and 6 and taught reading, math, and spelling for several years.  Along with being a parent, being a former staff member has given her the opportunity to form strong bonds with parents, students, and staff and to develop a fuller appreciation of the inner workings of Vanguard, as well as a love of the character development and singular education that our school offers.  All three of her children have grown up reaping the benefits of being part of the Vanguard family.  In all her interactions with our school, Tricia is committed to upholding the mission of Vanguard.  Tricia Jesse’s board seat is up for election in May 2017.
Mr. Jeff Leasure - Board Vice-President

Jeff was elected to the board in 2013.  His affiliation with the school began in 2002 with the first of two children attending kindergarten at Vanguard.  His son graduated with the Class of 2015, while his daughter is now in her senior year at Vanguard.  In 2003, Jeff was one of the adult leaders who formed Vanguard’s Cub Scout Pack 102 which has grown and is still active at the school.  He went on to serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 101 through 2012.  Jeff earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and has held various roles in engineering and engineering management at Texas Instruments and Atmel Corporation.  Jeff served on the Board of Broadmoor Mesa Homeowners Association for several years.  His primary role was in the office of Vice President.  Jeff is also the former congregation president of his church.  Jeff has attended numerous Vanguard board meetings throughout the years and encourages parents and staff to attend them as one way to stay connected with the school.  Jeff is committed to Core Knowledge and continuing the tradition of success throughout the K-12 program.  Jeff Leasure's board seat is up for election in May 2017.
